The number of visitors to Macau in the first half of 2021 was 3,927,829, an increase of 20% compared to the same period last year.
According to the National Statistical Office (DSEC), the number of overnight visitors and same-day visitors also increased compared to the same period last year. The former increased by 33% to 2,058,657, and the latter by 9% to 1,869,172.
Meanwhile, the average length of stay of visitors was 1.6 days, an increase of 0.2 days from the same period of the previous year, and the number of overnight visitors also increased by 0.2 days to 2.9 days. The number of same-day visitors decreased by 0.1 days to 0.1 days.
The number of visitors in June 2021 was 528,519, an increase of 2,243% compared to the previous year. However, the total was down 39% from the previous month, mainly due to increased prevention and control measures in the region due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Same-day and nighttime visitors also reported declines of 20% and 55%, respectively, over the same period.
Mainland visitors reached 471,935, an increase of 2,140% over the previous year, with 120,604 traveling according to individual visit plans.
In June 2021, analyzed by checkpoints, the number of visitors entering by land increased by 1,904% compared to the previous year, and the number of visitors entering through border gates was 88%. The number of air and sea visitors was 69,390 and 9,353 respectively.
